PAYROLL AUDIT & TAX SPECIALIST
ON SITE - PROVIDENCE RI - LOCAL W2 ONLY
- Plan, organize, supervise, and review the payrolls or pension payments
- Engaged in the examination of documents including receipts, encumbrance, and disbursement procedures to determine their accuracy, legality and proprietary before payment is made.
- Responsible for maintaining strict scheduling of processing payrolls and vouchers in accordance with state laws, regulations, prescribed policies and directives.
- Responsible for following federal and state laws, rules, regulations, contracts, and agreements relating to the payment of payrolls or vendors
- Filing of Federal and State monthly and quarterly payroll tax returns.
- Work with State retirement, ERSRI, to manage and maintain accurate employee records for State Pensions.
- Responsible for closing the year end payroll accounts and producing accurate annual W2/W3 forms and filings.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques relating to Preaudit procedures as they relate to payments of various types of payrolls transactions.
- Full Payroll Process Cycle including filing of all required tax returns.
- Knowledge of State and federal laws, rules and regulations and basic union contracts.
- BS in Math or Accounting – or related field
- Strong Excel skills.
- Proven experience as payroll specialist or payroll manager
- Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals and payroll best practices
