Full Time HUC opening - hourly wage $20.96 - $29.05 depending on experience - non exempt position
Job Summary:
This position is responsible for managing the Health Information function within a skilled nursing facility. Assures all medical and clinical health records of clients are maintained in accordance with state and federal regulations and professional practice standards.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Responsible for managing and maintaining all clinical health records, paper and electronic/computerized, within the nursing facility, from admission through discharge. Develops systems and processes to ensure access to health information as needed by staff and physicians. Develops and maintains auditing systems to ensure completeness and accuracy of clinical health information.
Provides direct supervision and ongoing training and coaching to Health Information Specialist and Health Information Assistant.
Responsible for security of protected health information and compliance with state and federal regulations pertaining to client privacy officer and perform routine and annual HIPAA training to staff and manages release of medical records to external agencies as requested or required.
Maintains a system to ensure closed charts are complete and accurate. Coordinates and maintains schedules for retention and destruction of clinical records.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED
Accreditation in Health Information Management or equivalent knowledge/experience, including medical terminology, coding, and transcription.
1 to 3 years related job experience, including with electronic medical records
Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats
Ability to follow all safety rules, regulations, policies and procedures of the facility including but not limited to: Vulnerable Adult and Abuse Policy, Resident’s Bill of Rights, HIPAA, OSHA, Universal Precaution, AWAIR, Right to Know, and MSDS.
