Huber Engineered Woods LLC, manufacturer of engineered wood products, is currently seeking an Environmental Health Safety (EHS) Coordinator at our Shuqualak, Mississippi facility located about 45 minutes from Starkville, Mississippi. The EHS Coordinator is a key member of the EHS Department, providing support in the areas of Environmental Health and Safety for the Shuqualak campus. Job responsibilities include: Assist the EHS department with Prevention of occupational injuries and illnesses. Coordinate the development, administration, and implementation of policies, procedures, risk reduction and loss control programs. Responsible for maintaining professional and effective relationships externally with government agencies, vendors and consultants as needed to perform the duties of the job. Assist the Environmental Manager with ensuring continued compliance with Federal, State, local, and internal environmental, health, and safety regulations, programs, and guidelines.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversee safety orientation training for new employees while maintaining records of the same.
- Helps coordinate maintenance and cleaning activities related to the continued operation of the mills environmental control equipment (ESP, RTOs, and Filter bag-houses).
- Tracks all safety training needed according to government regulations and corporate/sector guidelines and assures that proper documentation is completed.
- Implement and audit EHS programs and policies ensuring compliance with governmental health and safety regulations including those from corporate and sector offices.
- Gathers data, compiles, and submits monthly metric reports accurately and timely.
- Tracks daily Environmental Report. Updates daily Safety and Environmental slides for morning production meeting.
- Gathers data, compiles periodic environmental reports to assist Environmental Manager in governmental reporting.
- Manages Enablon EHS activities to include data entry, action items, and calendar.
- Assure facility compliance daily by visual observation, operator interaction, and electronic means such as Trend Historian and Environmental Report.
- Investigates any work-related injury, significant incident, near miss and first aid injury. Follow up with recommendations to limit the possibility of a repeat occurrence and prepare reports as needed.
- Performs analysis on all accidents, significant incidents, fires, and first aid injuries in the Enablon online reporting and management system and helps develops corrective actions.
- Develops and administers an annual safety management system review and action plan, highlighting goals and action steps to help reach stated goals.
- Analyses current tasks seeking improvements in design of work areas leading to increased safety and productivity,
- Coordinates employee health screenings and audiometric testing on an annual basis.
- Develop, implement, maintain, and coordinate the facility emergency response plan.
- Maintains SDS database, point of contact with Sphera.
- Other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager, Environmental Manager or Safety Manager.
- Performs general physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs, moving whole body and multilimbed coordination
Position Requirements Include:
- BS Degree in Environmental, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering preferred, however, Environmental Health Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or Industrial Hygiene degrees will be considered.
- Eligible to pursue the Professional Engineer (PE) Certified Safety Professional (CSP)and/or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) professional designation(s).
- 1-2 years experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Statistical and data analysis and basic engineering skills are required.
- Computer skills in MS Office Suite.
- Strong focus on program development, injury prevention and employee relations.
- Strong work ethic with a hands-on approach to teamwork and a willingness to learn.
