Description : YOP Shop Coordinator

Full Time

Non-Exempt

SUMMARY :

Coordinates YOP Shop daily activities; assists high-risk teens / young adults when they walk in or call in to the YOP Shop. Address immediate needs; and make solid linkages to help improve youth’s current situation (behavioral / physical health of youth; provide employment and educational opportunities; or help youth find alternative, safe housing). Develop and maintain strong relationship with referring community stakeholders.

  • Ability to creatively problem solve with clients and families.
  • Ability to work autonomously, adjust schedule to meet client needs and identify / communicate issues to Program Manager.
  • Knowledge of resources available that target population.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES / ACTIVITIES

1. Ensures YOP Shop is accessible during times of operation : 9am -5pm Monday through Friday; ensures all young people accessing YOP Shop services are checked-in and tracked in the clinical database.

2. Assists young people with immediate needs and assesses level of ongoing care.

3. Maintains and updates the list of young people needing case management and ensures these young people are assigned to the appropriate YOP Team member based on age, homeless status and service needs.

4. Initiate and maintain strong relationships between YOP Shop and referring entities and other community stakeholders that benefits clients.

5. Hosts meetings with outside referring entities and community stakeholders or youth focus groups to increase resources available for entire team to access as needed.

6. Accurately completes documentation in a timely manner ensuring all contacts (walk-in or call-in) are documented for tracking program and funder outputs and outcomes.

7. Audits electronic and paper records to ensure compliance with internal standards and Community Shelter Board monitoring guidelines.

8. Maintain stock of supplies, snacks, donations.

9. Meets established productivity standards.

10. Serves on an agency committee.

11. Completes other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS AND QUALIFICATIONS

1. High School diploma or GED with postsecondary education preferred; related experience or training required; experience working with homeless or at-risk youth preferred

2. Strong verbal and written communication skills.

3. Comfortable with public speaking.

4. Computer literate and knowledgeable of office equipment.

5. Holds and maintains a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.

6. COVID-19 vaccination card must be shown.

REQUIRED TRAININGS

Completes required trainings, including but not limited to :

  • Core training
  • CPI non-violent crisis intervention
  • First aid
  • Cultural competency
  • Other training programs as directed by the Program Manager.
  • WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

    Shelter / office environment and other various locations in the community. May require ability to sit, move about, climb stairs and operate telephone and personal computer for extended periods of time. Must furnish a reliable personal means of transportation in order to accomplish work objectives. Required to work a nonstandard workweek that includes weeknight (after 5 pm) and weekend hours. Overtime as required.
