Purpose Of Role

Reporting to the Mine General Foreman, the Mine Operator II, will be responsible for building and maintaining roads around site.

Role Accountabilities

  • Operate Heavy equipment to support the building and maintain for site roads and work areas
  • Operate Heavy equipment to support the construction of various projects around the site
  • Responsible for understanding changes to assigned work areas and any potential hazards
  • Responsible for understanding equipment components and practices that reduce component damage and wear
  • May perform minor maintenance activities
  • Build / Maintain new and existing roads throughout site
  • Work on various small earthwork projects around the site
  • Work with the training department to help train new operators
  • Help with various other projects as needed

Minimum Qualifications And Education

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Three years’ experience in the Mining industry
  • Two years’ experience operating heavy machinery building roads/ pads /earthwork projects
  • Ability to achieve Caterpillar certification for operating a backhoe, water truck, and tractor
  • Ability to operate Heavy Equipment
  • Ability to work & multi-task in a fast -paced environment
  • Strong work ethic
  • Ability to work in extreme outdoor weather conditions – temperatures may exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Ability to lift 50lbs
  • Can move over uneven terrain
  • Ability to work up to a 12-hour shift
  • Maintain a drug and alcohol-free workplace
  • Have reliable personal transportation to the site location (transportation at the site will be in company vehicles)
  • Possess a valid Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current MSHA
  • Current Caterpillar certifications
  • Current Class A or Class B CDL with N Endorsement

Employees must be able to perform the physical functions of operating a motor vehicle, including use of eyes, ears, arms, hands, legs, and feet. Employee must be able to prove that he/she has a current and valid driver's license.
