Purpose Of Role
Reporting to the Security Specialist, the Security Officer will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of personnel, facilities, and assets. This role involves managing and overseeing contract security personnel, safeguarding employees, contractors, and visitors, and protecting site facilities and equipment.
Roll Accountabilities
- Site Access Management:
- Check in and out all visitors and contractors, ensuring compliance with site security protocols.
- Verify MSHA 5000-23 comprehensive training certificates for all contractors and visitors.
- Oversee badge access management, ensuring that only authorized personnel have site access.
- Administer and track site-specific hazard recognition training for all visitors and contractors.
- Radio Management:
- Manage the distribution, maintenance, and proper use of radios for mine personnel to ensure reliable communication across the site.
- Weather Monitoring:
- Serve as the designated Site Weather Watch, actively monitoring weather conditions.
- Operate the lightning detection system and make appropriate safety announcements and warnings to protect mine personnel from hazardous weather conditions.
- Emergency Response:
- Act as an active member of the mine’s Emergency Response Team (ERT), supporting both internal and external first responders during emergencies or crises.
- Provide liaison support to outside first responders, coordinating with them in the event of a site emergency.
- Physical Security:
- Conduct regular roving patrols across the entire mine site, including Santa Rita Road and the Ranch areas, to ensure physical security and detect any breaches or suspicious activity.
- Provide physical security for key mine assets and ensure all areas are secure and monitored.
- Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in security or law enforcement preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong communication skills and the ability to manage radio communications effectively.
- Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and efficiently.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Experience:
- Previous experience in security, emergency response, or a related field.
- First Aid/CPR and Emergency Response training.
- MSHA training.

Employee will be expected to drive a company vehicle, rental vehicle and/or his/her own vehicle in the course of performing the job, Employee must be able to perform the physical functions of operating a motor vehicle, including use of eyes, ears, arms, hands, legs, and feet. Employee must be able to prove that he/she has a current and valid driver's license.
