Position Summary:
Hudson Advisors is seeking an analyst to join its U.S. Residential Credit investment platform in Dallas or New York. Hudson Advisors is the dedicated asset manager and investment manager for the Lone Star Funds, which currently manages multi billions of AUM across private equity strategies. The U.S. Residential Credit team primarily focuses on the underwriting and acquisition of mortgage whole loans in connection with Lone Star Residential Mortgage Fund III.
The successful candidate will support all aspects of the investment process, with a focus on quantitative financial modeling and analytics. Interest and basic knowledge in MBS/ABS (Mortgage/Asset-Backed Securities) or residential / consumer / corporate credit assets will be helpful. The ideal candidate should have a solid technical and analytical background (will primarily consider candidates with a degree in STEM subjects such as Math, Statistics, Physics, Computer Science or Engineering) and must be proficient in Microsoft Excel.
Programming skills are a plus. The ideal candidate will be comfortable in a fast-paced and fluid work environment, and a variable work schedule will be expected around market-driven events. The ability to learn quickly and adapt strategies on the fly is essential to the success of the team.

Essential Functions
- Development, maintenance, enhancement and support of data analytics for the investment acquisitions team
- Assist in investment screening process and help with data studies to set investment parameters.
- Assist in creating and maintaining loan level / property level analysis and reporting.
- Assist in monitoring performance, delinquencies, natural disasters and campaigns.
- Assist in investment cash-flow modeling and returns analysis.
- Assist in investment risk assessment and hedging.
- Support growth of various loan acquisition channels
- Create slides, charts and tables for various internal meetings and investment committee presentations.
- Create ad hoc analytical reports, as requested.
- Conduct independent ad hoc analyses.
- Basic understanding of financial markets and programming skills
- Strong mathematical, data science/statistical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong Excel and Power Point skills a must
- Hands-on experience in working with large data sets.
- Experience working with programming languages such as Java / C and/or Python (the position will not involve coding responsibilities, but will interact with technology staff frequently)
- Experience working with mathematical tools such as Matlab / R is helpful.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing with all levels of management.
- Ability to work autonomously and as a member of a team.
- Ability to handle multiple projects at the same time.
- Ability to work in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment with low to moderate supervision.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM subject (Math, Statistics, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering or another quantitative field) strongly preferred.
- Fresh college graduate with less than a year of experience preferred.
- Prior internship in financial industry and/or mortgage / consumer assets / corporate credit / other structured credit knowledge a plus
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint strongly preferred.
- Efficiency in Excel, including ability to summarize data via formulas, lookups, Pivot Tables, conditional formatting, etc. required.
- Base Salary: $80,000 - $110,000
- Posted base salary is based on New York, NY.
- Compensation is subject to change based on experience and location of hire.
- Base salary only includes the base annual wage, base salary does not include other forms of compensation, such as commissions or bonuses.
- Base salary also does not include other forms of compensation or benefits offered in connection with this advertised job, such as: employer-provided insurance, paid or unpaid time off work, the availability of or contributions towards retirement or savings funds, such as 401(k) plans, severance pay, or overtime pay.
