What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Accountant position at Hudson City Consulting?
We are currently looking for a Senior Accountant to support the acquisition of a nutraceutical company by one of our private equity clients. Reporting to the Controller, the Senior Accountant will play a pivotal role under the new ownership. The business transaction is a carveout of a subsidiary from a larger entity, so there will be a need to participate in financial execution activities.
The ideal candidate will have a proven record of success in overseeing accounting processes supporting our business growth, particularly within private equity-backed organizations, startups, and/or M&A environments. The role is hybrid so will require frequent on-site presence. The candidate should be currently within commuting distance to Kearny, NJ.
Responsibilities:
· Oversee aspects of accounting including the supervision of the General Ledger, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable Functions. Review account reconciliation from subledger to General Ledger.
· Oversee company's ledgers and reporting systems ensuring compliance with general accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
· Perform daily and monthly Bank reconciliations.
· Perform inter-company transactions within the accounting system.
· Prepare for audit and review.
· Prepare month end close.
· Advance knowledge of NetSuite, our ERP tool, and assist with training other employees as required
· Process improvement initiatives.
· Financial Statement variance analysis & reconciliation
· Plant & Cost accounting (including inventory)
· Balance sheet reconciliations
· Intercompany accounting & eliminations
· Tax & Tax Accounting (e.g. Sales & Use tax)
· Working Capital Reporting (DSO, DPO, Liquidity)
· Lease Accounting
· OBS / NWC
· Ad Hoc reporting and projects and other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required
· 6 years of experience working in a manufacturing setting with at least 2 years as a senior accountant.
· Public Accounting experience is preferred.
· Excellent computer skills required, including prior experience with an ERP system/SAP, advanced Excel, and experience with Microsoft Office Suite applications.
· Excellent analytical and meticulous skills required, with the ability to succeed as an individual, and at the same time excel in a team environment.
· Strong interpersonal and influential skills
· Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities
· Experience in SAP (Running transaction codes and downloading data)
