What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Workforce Development Coach position at Hudson Community Enterprises?
BASIC FUNCTIONS:
To provide direct services to disabled youth (ages 15-21) focusing on career exploration and skills development that will foster independent thinking, responsibility, and self-sufficiency. Provide supervision for youth onsite and offsite during community exploration and community work site experiences.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- The following functions of the job include, but are not limited to:
- Provide job readiness preparation to students that will introduce youth with disabilities to the essential competencies required for employment
- Guiding youth through self-assessments and career/interest inventories
- Assisting youth in identifying career/occupational goals
- Introducing youth to different business industries
- Develop and implement techniques to model occupational skills, work habits, and behaviors
- Develop, coordinate, and implement strategies to work with the students
- Coach students in specified workplace skills to achieve identified goals
- Provides step-by-step directions to the students and ensure individuals can complete the tasks required on the community-based work site.
- Documents and maintains daily attendance records and other records, evaluations, and reports to support the individualized plan for assigned students
- Maintains accurate, current case notes and reports for individuals involved in the program
- Maintains professionalism in a manner that would model the workplace behaviors for the students
- Maintains cooperative relationships with HCE business partners (employers) and supports the onsite experience of the students
- Attend open house family meetings to provide feedback on the youth’s strengths, interests and challenges
- Attend professional development workshops provided by the Jersey City Board of Education
- Performs other duties within the scope of his/her employment and certification as may be assigned
EMPLOYEE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience working with high school students and/or disabled population strongly preferred
- Job coaching and/or case management experience a plus.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Sociology or related fields required. (High School Diploma/5 Years of experience working in related field will be accepted in place of BA).
- Bilingual (Spanish) preferred but not required to apply
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $23.50 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 per week
