FOOD SERVICE HELPER

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:
This is routine manual work performed under immediate supervision in connection with the preparation and service of food. On occasion, Food Service Helpers may perform cooking duties involving lesser degrees of skill than regularly required of employees in the classification of Cook or Assistant Cook. Does related work as required.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:
Prepare food service facilities for the serving of food;
Set tables and clears them after meals;
Fills condiments;
Cleans tables, chairs, dining areas;
Cleans, washes and otherwise prepares food for cooking/serving;
Helps Cooks, Assistant Cooks or Bakers in any phase of their duties;
Washes dishes, pots and pans by hand or machine;
Sweeps, mops and cleans kitchen;
Maintains a clean sanitary and safe work area;
Assist in storing/disposing of foods and supplies;
May act as Cashier.
FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:
Working knowledge of the proper methods of serving food and of the care of tableware, glassware, silver and kitchen appliances;
Ability to work quickly and efficiently under the pressure of deadlines;
Ability to follow oral and written directions;
Ability to use basic math in times of acting as cashier;
Cleanliness; Neatness of appearance;
Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: None is required.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Will be required to complete any mandatory training in Accordance with USDA Professional Standards (i.e. ServSafe)
