Sr. Director - Fundamental Equities Technology

My client is a multi billion multi-strategy investment firm headquartered in New York City, a couple hundred employees across eight main offices. They are experiencing their largest amount of growth in 20 years and are building out key leadership positions in technology across the firm.

This is a newly created role for a Sr. Director to lead the Fundamental Equities Technology team. The role will involve building and leading a development team focused on supporting their fundamental investing Portfolio Managers and to design resilient applications to serve their business needs. The ideal candidate should have a background in building applications for front office investment staff as well as a strong knowledge of fundamental equity research and portfolio construction.

Responsibilities:

·      Lead, manage, and hire a team of engineers for design, development and deployment of greenfield fundamental equity tools.

·      Collaborate with CTO, head of product management, and key stakeholders to define strategic roadmaps and goals.

·      Build and maintain tools for fundamental equity portfolio managers and traders.

·      Oversee the full software development lifecycle, emphasizing Agile methodologies and proper DevOps practices such as CICD, containerization, and automation.

·      Ensure information security best practices are followed in your team’s software development.

·      Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry best practices.

Qualifications:

·      Experience building front office applications in a financial services firm

·      10 years of experience in technology or financial services (or equivalent in a highly relevant field)

·      Experience architecting full stack solutions in either Java or Python, owing the solution from the front end to the database

·      Experience building front end solutions for business users

·      Strong domain knowledge in fundamental equity research and portfolio construction

·      Experience with common finance industry tools like Bloomberg, Refinitiv, or Factset
