SUMMARY :
Quinn Middle School seeks a motivated and enthusiastic 5th grade Mathematics long-term substitute teacher to support the Quinn Middle School community covering a leave of absence from aproximately March 6,2025 through the remainder of the 2024-2025 school year - June 16, 2025. Our school operates on a strong teaming system, where educators collaboratively support their students and one another. The 5th grade curriculum aligns with the Massachusetts Frameworks.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Design and implement units that inspire students to grow and extend their computational, reasoning, and problem solving skills both inside and outside of the math classroom.
- Assess student progress towards course objectives to inform instruction and provide feedback to students and families.
- Differentiate classroom work to address individual learning needs.
- Manage student behavior to provide a safe and welcoming learning environment.
- Work with other math teachers to align assessments, instructional strategies and sharing best practices.
- Work with the principal and staff to support the instructional goals of the school.
- Develop ongoing communication systems for parents, students, and the community.
- Build enthusiasm for math learning among the students.
- Aligning curricular standards with state guidelines.
- Participate in professional development activities, internal and external, and meet district expectations for licensure.

Licensed Long Term Subs will be placed accordingly within this range dependent upon years of experience and degrees.

While performing duties of this job, the employee may often remain in a stationary position for considerable periods of time. The employee will have also have ample periods of standing and may be required to traverse throughout the building. The employee must frequently use hands and frequently operates a computer and other office productivity machinery (i.e., calculator, copy machine, and computer printer). Physical abilities may also include lifting / carrying / pushing / pulling, stooping / crouching, reaching / handling, talking / hearing conversations, and near / far visual acuity / depth perception / color vision / field. Ability must be able to lift and / or push and pull 15 to 20 lbs for short periods, and walk up and down stairs several times a day. The employee must be able to communicate effectively with students, staff members, and the public in person and on the telephone.
