General Description
Under the supervision of the Building Principal, Director of Technology, and the Library/Media Specialist for the school, the Library/Media paraeducator performs clerical/administrative and library work in support of keeping the school library media center functioning effectively. This position will work with the Library/Media Specialist to ensure that the library is a welcoming, engaging, and safe space for students, parents, staff, and community members alike. Duties include supervising students in the library, providing student and staff support for the use of technology and library resources, managing the circulation desk, and assisting in the preparation of space and materials for classes coming to the library.
**$500.00 sign on Bonus for Paraeducators who are hired in the 2024-2025 school year!** (IF starts before March 21st, 2025)
Essential Functions and Duties of the Position

- Assists with the daily opening and/or closing of the library media center
- Monitors and supervises students in library media spaces
- Assists students and staff with research, reading recommendations, material location, and technology use
- Assists in researching and gathering materials for class projects and displays
- Assists in preparing library media spaces for use
- Maintains electronic booking of library media spaces
- Assists in obtaining and processing new materials
- Shelves materials and maintains the order of the collections
- Identifies worn, obsolete, and damaged items and repairs damaged materials
- Performs inventory of materials
- Prepares and distributes overdue notices
- Oversees daily work activities of adult and student volunteers and provides training as needed
- Performs related duties as required, which may include providing paraeducator support in the classroom setting.
Education and Experience
College degree and two years library related experience preferred. Must have high comfort level with computers and digital technology.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be established by the Superintendent of Schools based on the HPA/HSC Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- The position is 10 months, 1.0 FTE, under the Hudson Paraeducators’ Association contract.
- 2 personal days, 12 sick days proratued pursuant to date of hire
BENEFITS:
- $500.00 sign on bonus - paid out following 90 calendar days of work (March 21, 2025 cutoff)
- Additional $250.00 retention bonus if employed for longer than 3 calendar months and still employed as of June 15, 2025
- Referral Bonus of $500.00 if the new employee is employed in excess of three months

Qualifications
Possesses knowledge of and interest in library operations, academic research, and classic and current literature. Possesses interpersonal skills to interact with students and staff. Exhibits strong teamwork skills and flexibility for a collaborative and busy instructional environment. Demonstrates the capacity to work with technology such as the electronic library system, online databases, learning management systems, and other electronic tools as they are adopted by Hudson Public Schools.
Salary Range
Based on the Hudson Paraeducators’ Association contract.
