What are the responsibilities and job description for the Head Press Operator position at Hudson Printing Co?
As the Head Press Operator, you will be responsible for accurate product color calibration and overseeing the registration of the web on a 5-Unit or 4-Unit Offset Web Press as well as running high-quality commercial work at low waste and high speeds. Other responsibilities include overseeing and being responsible for all press operations, managing the press crew, ensuring the hanging plates and blankets, proofs, quality control samples are done properly, assist all other press positions, and perform weekly maintenance on the press.
The ideal candidate must have a proven track record of being dependable and reliable, be a supportive team member, willing to work hard, solve unique issues and overcome obstacles, have a passion for printing, have the quality of work as the highest priority, and have professionalism when interacting with crews, staff, and customers.
Hudson Printing operates on Mill Shifts in the pressroom. 3 on 4 off 12 hour shifts that rotate to 4 on 3 off the following week. Workload may require working additional hours/days, including weekends, and, on rare occasions, holidays.
Required Skills & Experience
- 5 years of Web Offset Press Experience
- Ability and eagerness to teach upcoming pressmen
- Leadership and training skills
- Mechanical and troubleshooting skills is required
- Work well in a team environment
- Ability to climb, balance, stoop, crawl, reach, stand, push, pull, lfit , or grip
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Support company safety policies and encourage employees to work safely
Day A-Shift: Sun-Tue, (6 AM - 6 PM)
Day C-Shift: Wed-Friday (6 AM - 6 PM)
Night B-Shift: Sun-Tue, (6 PM - 6 AM)
Night D-Shift: Wed-Friday (6 PM - 6 AM)
