We are seeking an early career, experienced Research Associate for an independent role providing research support and technical guidance to customers. The Research Associate will perform advanced sample analyses utilizing mass spectrometry, CyTOF and Imaging Mass Cytometry (ICM). The role will require interaction with customers, providing technical guidance related to the analyses and sample preparation techniques.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Research Associates responsibilities may include:
- Contribute to experimental design, perform analyses, analyze data, and perform routine maintenance and advanced troubleshooting on instrumentation.
- Optimization of experimental protocols and workflows. Maintain up-to-date documentation of established protocols.
- Perform specialized equipment maintenance, interact with instrument manufacturers and suppliers for advanced troubleshooting and technical support.
- Maintain vendor relationships, evaluates products, and collaborates with purchasing for timely procurement of laboratory supplies.
- Analyze and interpret complex scientific data. Collect and analyze scientific data for manuscript preparation and grant proposals
- Assist in the installation and maintenance of specialized research equipment.
- Stay updated with relevant scientific literature and advancements in the field. Participate in education and outreach activities within the core, including tours, events, etc. Participate in professional development activities and scientific conferences.
REQUIREMENTS
- A master’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology or a related field is preferred. Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline with 2-years of related, post-graduate experience may be considered.
- Prior experience with mass spectroscopy research methodologies, performing complex experiments and/or familiarity with CyTOF, MS and/or IMC is preferred.
- A demonstrated ability to make appropriate, independent decisions and to initiate suitable activity with minimal supervision is required.
- Meticulous attention to detail. Excellent verbal communication skills are essential.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively with multiple investigators on multiple teams, supporting projects with competing priorities.
- Ability to troubleshoot instrumental and software problems is strongly preferred.
- Great customer service drive, eager to move projects forward and optimize workflows.
- Ability to effectively work in a team environment
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Monday - Friday 37.5 hour/week day shift schedule and ability to support occasional off-hour work
