Description
The Facilities (Maintenance) Assistant is responsible for providing general maintenance in Hudson Valley Hospice facilities in an effective and efficient manner. The principle location for this function is in the Hudson Valley Hospice House where they will be available to assist the Executive Director and staff of the HVH House ensuring the building is well maintained and cleaned. This person must always demonstrate a high level of security awareness and have the knowledge of emergency procedures with regards fire and smoke emergencies and building evacuation of patients and staffs.
What we are looking for:
- General assistance with environmental services at all Hudson Valley Hospice locations, but especially at the HVH House. Duties include but not limited to: assisting with movement of supplies, laundry, and linen in the HVH House, light plumbing, electric, HVAC, repairs, light snow removal, salt/sand walkways, clean up spills, change stained ceiling tiles, change air filters, adjust doors, water garden, hang pictures, etc .
- Work with vendors and contractors to complete larger tasks and repairs, e.g., painter, emergency generator, compressors, pumps, landscape and grounds, , housekeeping, roofer, HVAC, electrician, plumber, mover, etc.
- Maintain list of vendors for maintenance, housekeeping, grounds, etc.
- Assist with fire and safety drills and provide education to staff and residents regarding fire fighting, and building evacuation.
- Performs other duties as required and assigned to assist with the operations of HVH facilities, especially the HVH House.

Work Environment:
- Must be able to climb step ladders to change ceiling tiles and air filters.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
- Provide physical assistance with equipment moves. Must be able to lift and move office furniture.
- Ability to drive to and from difference buildings
Education & Experience we are looking for:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- At least one year working within facilities setting required
- Working within healthcare facility sites preferred
- Valid NY Driver’s License with reliable transportation to drive to and from different locations
Hours: Full Time (40hs per week); 8:30am-4:30pm or 9:00am-5:00pm; Schedule could include some weekend support.
Pay: $19-21 per hour
FLSA: Non-Exempt
