The overall responsibility of the RN Coordinator for Admissions is the clinical supervision, coordination, and management of the Admissions RNs team; providing clinical support, assisting in the daily operational planning and priority setting for daily admissions and for the support of assigned staff who provide admission services.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assist in the daily operations, planning, and priority setting to ensure that staffing and accurate reporting mechanisms are established and followed for the effective ongoing service provision of the seven (7) day a week operation. Monitor position control and staffing plans to ensure adequate and competent staff to meet patient care needs and productivity expectations.
- Provide oversight of Admission RNs. This includes hiring, orientation, mentorship, education, development, performance review, and scheduling.
- Provide clinical expertise and support to full-time, part-time, and per-dem Admission RNs with daily activities that arise.
- Completes employee field evaluations that are consistent with job expectation, employee communication and completed within an appropriate period.
- Make joint visits, when requested, for orientation, preceptor, and mentorship of admission RNs.
- Review, report, and follow up on patient/family complaints.
- Works with VP of Patient Access to ensure communication regarding open referrals and coordination of admissions in a timely manner.
- As required, functions as an Admission RN.
- Responsible for coaching employees to support positive behavior, effective communication, and interaction with others.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

- Works in assigned settings, patient/family homes and community agencies.
- Moderate to high risk of exposure to unsafe environments.
- Ability to carry up to twenty-five pounds of supplies and/or materials used to provide community education.
- Moderate amount of time sitting and working with a computer screen
PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Current registration as a registered nurse in New York State. Certified as a Hospice of employment.
- BS or BSN (currently attending college to obtain a BSN) or commensurate experience, clinically and/or managerially.
- Minimum of three years of clinical nursing, preferably in oncology, critical care, and/or home care; at least one year of which is medical-surgical nursing.
- Valid NYS Driver’s License
- Managerial/Leadership experience preferred.
Hours: (4) 10hr shifts - rotating schedule
