What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Transportation Director position at Hudsonville Public Schools?
Summary:
The focus of the Assistant Transportation Director is to work with building administration and families in areas of concern, as well as growth for student behavior and access to daily busing and transportation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Organize and implement a student behavior code of conduct for transportation
- Communicate with building administrators regarding student behavior and conduct on bus routes
- Implement behavior management and plans for students working outside the behavior code of conduct
- Communicate with parents and guardians regarding their student’s behavior and conduct on the bus
- Work with students directly developing positive behavior plans for transportation
- Provide professional development to transportation employees on how to handle a variety of student situations on the bus routes
- Assist in developing and maintain lists of students eligible for transportation
- Assist in field trips, athletic trips, and other district transportation outside of the normal school day
- Interpret transportation procedures and regulations to public and staff
- Make recommendations that may improve transportation services and efficiency within the transportation department
- Work alongside the Special Services department in regards to special education bussing within the district and county
- Attend and sit-on district administrative committees
- All other duties as assigned
Education and/or Experience:
- Preferred Experience in building administration within the K-12 level
- Preferred work experience and training in general transportation
- Willing to obtain and maintain a Commercial Driver License (CDL) with endorsements for Michigan Public School Bus Driver and related training required
