Mobile Truck Technicians Can Expect the Following Responsibilities:
Inspect and Repair:
- Perform maintenance and repairs on air brake systems, electrical systems, and other trailer components.
- Inspect and repair damage to trailer bodies, chassis, doors, floors, etc.
- Handle minor mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic assemblies, including lift gates.
- Conduct basic and advanced repairs, such as welding, cutting, and fabrication.
Install or Replace:
- Add-on components like toolboxes, ramp kits, dunnage racks, and winches.
- Show willingness to learn new skills and take on new tasks as needed.
Quality Check and Reporting:
- Prepare service reports and other necessary documentation.
- Examine work for defects to ensure high-quality repairs.
- Follow troubleshooting procedures to deliver quality work according to specifications.
- Communicate concerns and assist others when needed.
Safety First:
- Follow safety standards, company policies, and regulations.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas, tools, and equipment.
Required Qualifications:
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (no recent DUIs).
- Reliable transportation.
- Own a personal set of hand tools.
- Broad knowledge of semi-trailer equipment, tools, and systems.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and welding equipment.
- Ability to work overtime as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in semi-trailer repairs.
- Bilingual in Spanish a plus.
Physical Demands:
- Frequent standing, walking, reaching, kneeling, crouching, and bending.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
- Must operate equipment like forklifts, hand tools, welding equipment, and refrigerated trailers.
- Specific vision abilities including close, distance, and color vision, with the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts, high places, chemicals, fumes, and extreme temperatures.
- Regular exposure to moderate to loud noise levels.
- Risk of electrical shock.
- Work may be performed in shops, yards, or on customer sites via mobile service trucks.
