Parts Advisor Job Description:
The Huffines Parts Counter Representative is knowledgeable about automotive products and can accurately answer questions and satisfy customer requirements in person or on the phone. He or she assists customers in selecting required parts or accessories in a friendly, professional manner. He or she locates automotive products within the current inventory or from other sources (such as the internet, vendors, other dealerships, etc.) ensures all documentation is completed accurately and timely, and processes payments as needed.
Parts Advisor Responsibilities:
- Assists all customers (retail and wholesale) in selecting required parts in a friendly, professional, and efficient manner
- Reviews body shop estimates to be sure that ordered parts are correct and pricing is in line with the estimate
- Pulls and fills orders from stock
- Notifies parts manager of out-of-stock parts
- Locates out-of-stock parts from an outside source and submits an emergency order, if necessary
- Follows up on back-ordered parts
- Replenishes assigned inventory daily
- Makes sure all internal requests for parts are billed on service repair order
- Processes payment from retail customers or obtains credit authorization
- Issues and tracks requested shop tools to technicians
- Keeps orderly records of all repair orders, invoices, insurance estimates, and special-order parts
- Sets up orders for daily shipment, delivery, or pick-up
- Stays current with new products and product updates
- Helps the Parts Manager maintain a lost sales tracking program
- Other duties as assigned
Parts Advisor Requirements:
- Minimum two years of automotive dealership parts experience
- Proven ability to work well in a process-driven environment
- High school diploma or GED
- Demonstrated ability to work well with others and be a team player
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated desire to learn new processes and adapt quickly
- Proficiency in computer skills
- Professional dress, speech, and behavior
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds frequently on a daily basis
