Under the general supervision of the Specialty Practice Manager the Pain Management Nurse is responsible for providing direct patient care in conformity with the recognized nursing procedures.
This is a part-time position working 20 hours per week.
Responsibilities : Clinical Care :
- Accurately documents patient's chief complaint, medical history, and vital signs and completes pertinent forms within the Electronic Medical Record and in accordance with the Best Practice Work Flows and communicates all information to CRNA
- Prepares / instructs / positions and drapes the patient
- Performs phlebotomy and IV insertion as needed
- Assists in procedures such as dressing changes, and injections using sterile techniques.
- Provide patients with educational materials in collaboration with the CRNA. Instructs patients about medications, diet, and exercise; discharge instructions, care plan goals and preventative guidelines specific to the diagnosis
- Prepares and administers medication as directed by CRNA or as indicated in the patient record
- Ensures timely telephone assessments, including triage of appropriate care for patients with accurate documentation and prioritized scheduling
Provides clinical support for all CRNAs
Assists CRNAs with proceduresPrepares the procedure room with needed supplies, instruments, and equipment, and maintains room in a clean mannerEnsures the CRNAs are on schedule being mindful of emergencies and unexpected interruptionsPrepares specimens and documentation for processing or transportation to processing facilityCommunicates clinical education needs to the Specialty Practice Manager in an effort to optimize functional team capacityWorks with Practice Director and Specialty Practice Manager to improve and / or implement clinical workflows within the practiceWorks with Care Coordinators and Quality Management liaisons to help close identified patient care gaps; inspire clinical teams to strive for targeted quality goals; and link patients and their family members to resources for optimal care complianceSupply, Equipment & Medication Coordination :
Supervises the maintenance of an inventory of supplies and equipment as required to perform clinical servicesEnsures that emergency equipment is checked and functional, hazardous materials are stored, handled, and disposed of in accordance with Hospital policies, and cares, cleans, and sterilizes equipment per instructions or established proceduresOrders medical supplies as needed to keep exam rooms stock. Will also order medications within Hospital policy for refills and prescriptionsPatient Access & Office Coordination :
Answers the telephone, files, and retrieves records as neededSchedules patients for needed procedures or follow up appointmentsEnsures efficient patient flow and provides timely assessment of patients presenting at the officeOrganizational Expectations :

Education : Completion of RN or LPN
Experience : One year Pain Management experience preferred
License and Certification :
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
RN or LPN registered in the state of New Hampshire.
