What are the responsibilities and job description for the Aquatic/Fitness Instructor position at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital?
Summary
Under the supervision of a licensed therapist, exercise scientist/exercise physiologist, assists in direct instruction and guidance of clients during aquatic classes in the wellness pool. Upon request of the director or pool manager, will assist in planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating the activities occurring in the wellness pool and will also perform clerical and receptionist duties associated with activities for the wellness pool.
Education and Formal Training: High School Graduate, ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English sufficiently to perform job duties required. Degree in Exercise Science/Exercise Physiology or certification as an aquatic fitness instructor. Excellent interpersonal skills. Computer, fax, and telephone skills. CPR certification.
Work Experience: Experience in Aquatic Exercise Programming.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: Must be physically active/exercise oriented. Demonstrates a high level of mental and emotional tolerance and even temperament when dealing with ill or debilitated people; uses tact, sensitivity, sound judgment, and a professional attitude when relating with clients/patients, families, and co-workers at all times. Has ability to manage emergency/crisis situations.
