What are the responsibilities and job description for the SURGICAL TECH position at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital?
Monday - Friday 630-1500 with call rotation.
Experience required. Assists surgeons and nursing personnel in the OR. Adheres to unit aseptic standards. Assembles necessary supplies for the surgical procedures. Assists the surgical team by passing instruments and related items as needed.
Education and Formal Training: High School diploma or equivalent. LPN, CNA, EMT, or Medical Assistants may apply. Graduate from an accredited surgical tech program is desired. Will have current CPR certification or obtain within 30 days of hire date.
Work Experience: Option 1:On the job training < 3 years experience (Non-Certified). Option 2: Graduate from accredited Surgical tech program < 1 year experience with certificate.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: Needs to be willing to learn and perform different procedures. Also needs to have excellent communication skills to work directly with nurses, anesthesia, and physicians. Willingness to learn sterile technique, instruments, and correct passing techniques. Needs to also be willing to learn different equipment and knowledge to operate that equipment. Must demonstrate an ability to respond to changing workloads and to perform in an accurate and precise manner in crisis and emergency situations when time is critical. Must demonstrate an even temperament, tact, sensitivity, sound judgment, and a professional attitude. Must insure that all contracts with patients, the public, physicians, and other hospital personnel are carried out in a friendly, courteous, and considerate manner.
