WOOD BAND SAW OPERATOR
Job purpose
The employee on this position cut previously marked pieces of lumber called blocks in a band saw machine. He must follow the “pattern” previously drawn on the wood.
Duties and responsibilities
- Transfer the pieces of wood from the rack to the bench close to the saw.
- Turn on the saw machine and start the cut following the pattern.
- Turn off the saw at breaks, lunch time and end of the shift.
- Report any mechanical issues or safety problems to his supervisor.
Qualifications
The employee on this position should be able to lift medium loads (up to 30 pounds).
Safety gear must be used (safety glasses, earplugs, gloves, apron).

Working conditions
Working conditions are the normal found in a lumber/wood working plant, ventilated indoor area; earplugs and safety glasses are required, Facial Mask also the use of protective gloves. This job is performed mainly at 1st. shift from Monday through Friday.
Physical requirements
The operator should be standing performing this job close to the saw; there are 15 minute breaks that are taken as long as the supervisor consider the need. There are low repetitive movements by the time the operator loads the wood from the rack to the saw table.
