Systems Engineer Intern

EchoStar has an exciting opportunity in our Hughes Network Systems division for a Systems Engineer Intern. This position will be located at our Germantown, MD office.

Responsibilities:

• Provide technical support to manage large service provider networks
• Install, configure, maintain network services, equipment, and devices
• Design, implement, troubleshoot, and manage routing and switching of Enterprise Customers’ terrestrial networks
• Create, document, and complete system testing to qualify new software releases
• Document network diagrams for future reference
• Requires monitoring and troubleshooting of platform and OS based problems, network infrastructure and connectivity issues​

Basic Requirements:

• Currently pursuing a degree in Networking, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical field.
• 3.0 GPA or above
• 60 credit hours or more by start of internship, June 2025

Preferred Qualifications:

• Technical knowledge of Cisco IOS, IOS-XR, Forti OS, API scripting, Wireshark
• Knowledgeable in configuration management tools such as Ansible and proven experience with Python to support developing scripts
• Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems
• Understanding of network infrastructure, protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, BGP, ARP, VLAN), and services (e.g., DNS, DHCP, VPNs, SD-WAN)
• Good customer service and communications skills (written and oral)
• Adaptable and willing to learn new technologies
• Must have the ability to effectively multi-task
• Knowledge of Cisco ACI/APIC, VMWare, KVM products is a plus

Salary : $49,000 - $70,000
