Assistant Maintenance Manager: Union, IL
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Assistant Maintenance Manager to support our Maintenance Manager in overseeing the maintenance operations of our manufacturing facility. This role is essential to ensuring the efficient operation of our mechanical and electrical systems, requiring a strong multi-skilled industrial maintenance background. Key Responsibilities:
Technical Expertise:
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial machinery and equipment, including both mechanical and electrical systems
- Install, align, and move stationary industrial machinery
- Maintain hydraulic, pneumatic, vacuum, and power transmission systems
- Operate and maintain tools such as welders, lathes, and grinders to fabricate and repair parts as needed
- Perform preventive maintenance and inspections to minimize downtime
- Conduct root-cause analysis to address and resolve equipment failures
Leadership & Team Management:
- Assist the Maintenance Manager in planning and overseeing maintenance schedules and projects
- Provide guidance and technical support to the Site Maintenance Team to ensure equipment reliability and efficiency
- Lead and train team members, promoting continuous learning and development
- Manage contractors and ensure compliance with legal and company standards
- Assist in managing maintenance budgets, KPIs, and procurement of spare parts and tools
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency
- Participate in and lead initiatives focused on optimizing maintenance processes and equipment reliability
Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to all health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Identify and mitigate hazards, ensuring employees properly use PPE and follow safety protocols
- Conduct regular safety inspections and promote a culture of safety awareness
Skills & Experience:
- Education: HSD, required; Technical Degree or certification in industrial maintenance, preferred
- Proven Experience: In a manufacturing or industrial environment and leadership role, strongly preferred
- Knowledge: Ability to read & interpret blueprints, schematics, & technical drawings and manufacturing engineering processes, required
- Software: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, required; experience with MRP/ERP system, preferred

Pay: $26.00 - $33.00/hour
Type: 1st Shift, Full-time, onsite (no hybrid or WFH)
Schedule: Monday – Friday 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Occasional weekend and/or holiday work as needed for business, On-call (following training)
