Kitchen Assistant: Rockford, Illinois
Our customer in Rockford, Illinois is seeking motivated individuals to join their team. We’re recruiting Kitchen Assistants to work full-time on 1st shift. As a Kitchen Assistant, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment, assisting with meal prep, and supporting the efficient operation of food services to meet the needs of the center.
Responsibilities of the Kitchen Assistant:
- Perform daily kitchen duties to ensure a safe, clean, and sanitized environment in accordance with health and safety standards.
- Set up, deliver, and pick up classroom carts as part of the meal service process.
- Operate the dishwashing machine to ensure all kitchen equipment and utensils are thoroughly cleaned.
- Assist with prepping meals and snacks, and plate food while modifying meals to accommodate allergies or special dietary needs.
- Clean and sanitize carts, refilling condiments and cleaning containers as needed before returning them to the refrigerator.
- Sweep and mop the kitchen pantry daily to maintain cleanliness.
- Assist in putting groceries and food orders away in designated storage areas.
- May work alternate shifts and be assigned overtime during peak periods to meet operational needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management to support the kitchen and food service operations.
Kitchen Assistant Requirements and Qualifications:
- Previous experience working in a commercial kitchen or food service environment is preferred.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Must obtain a Food Handlers Certificate within 5 days of employment.
- Ability to carry out all duties in compliance with DCFS, Food Program, and center policies.
- Ability to lift 75 lbs. or more when handling food, equipment, and supplies.
Pay for Kitchen Assistant: Starting at $15/hour.
