Position Goal: The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) functions under the supervision of the Practice Administrator. LPN performs delegated patient care functions. The work is performed under the established policies and procedures of Hughston Clinic Orthopaedics and within the educational preparation and regulatory requirements for licensure. The LPN is expected to assess and analyze a given situation and make decisions within the scope of license standards..
Position Responsibilities:
- Develop familiarity with the physician requirements for a productive clinic.
- Escort patients who have mobility ranging from full to limited from waiting area to triage area.
- Answer telephones in a courteous, professional manner and accurately communicate messages.
- Accurately transcribe orders and input them into the computer.
- Perform data entry functions.
- Electronically complete order entries.
- Maintain inventory of supplies and fill out purchase orders as needed.
- Perform faxing and copying duties as needed.
- Accurately file paperwork.
- Maintain and assist staff with computer-related equipment.
- Assist in obtaining medical records.
- Phlebotomy duties as required.
- Charting reflecting that data is collected and recorded in a timely and accurate manner.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment; follow principles of infection control.
- Use proper BSI procedures, chemical safety and body mechanics.
- Actively pursue appropriate continuing education and certifications.
- Apply acquired knowledge in patient care practice.
- Complete annual/critical competencies identified for assigned department.
- Perform duties with minimal personnel or patient conflict documented.
Experience:
LPN: Previous nursing experience preferred.
Education:
Basic education necessary for Nursing licensure required.
Special Qualifications:
- Must have TN or Multi-State LPN license
- Must have a current BLS certification and maintain certification at all times
- Must have a current ACLS certification and maintain certification at all times
- Must comply with HIPAA requirements at all times.
- Must have knowledge of the health care field and medical specialty.
- Must have a valid driver's license and satisfactory MVR (MVR completed annually)
