Revenue Accounting Manager
Location: San Francisco, CA 94107 (Hybrid - Monday, Wednesday, Thursday in-office)
Pay Rate: $60/hr W2
Duration: 3-6 Month Contract (Potential C2P)
About the Role
We are seeking a Revenue Accounting Manager to lead and oversee the revenue accounting team. This role is responsible for managing revenue recognition processes, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and driving efficiencies within the team. The ideal candidate has strong leadership skills, expertise in ASC 606, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with finance, sales, and operations teams.
Key Responsibilities of Revenue Accounting Manager:
- Lead the revenue accounting team, including hiring, training, and mentoring staff.
- Oversee revenue recognition policies and ensure compliance with ASC 606 and SOX requirements.
- Manage the month-end and quarter-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Review and analyze complex, non-standard B2B contracts to determine revenue recognition implications.
- Partner with sales, legal, and finance teams to establish accounting treatment for new products, contracts, and business models.
- Drive process improvements and automation initiatives to enhance revenue accounting efficiency and accuracy.
- Support external audits by preparing PBC schedules, responding to inquiries, and ensuring documentation compliance.
- Develop and implement internal controls to mitigate risks and improve operational effectiveness.
- Participate in strategic projects to scale revenue operations and align accounting processes with business growth.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred).
- 6 years of progressive accounting experience, including revenue accounting and leadership roles.
- Strong knowledge of ASC 606 and revenue recognition for subscription, software, hardware, or advertising models.
- Experience reviewing and interpreting non-standard B2B contracts.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems (Oracle experience preferred).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a detail-oriented mindset.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving business environment.
- Experience working with auditors and ensuring SOX compliance.
- SQL knowledge is a plus but not required.
