Job Summary :
Train with the Assistant PPO and the Primary Power Plant Operator on operations of (1) HP Boiler and (2) LP Boilers and associated equipment, assisting operators as required.
Responsible for learning and performing the following necessary skills :
Proper operation and control of necessary valves and pumps for feed water system
Properly line up all necessary steam valves to feed steam to major areas of the mill
Properly line up fuel train to start and operate on either oil or natural gas.
Learn DCS system; proper boiler pressure, rates, time, as well as proper venting and startup, ensuring feedwater, pump systems and boiler controls are in proper automatic operation
Perform a low water cutout
Perform all boiler water sampling, understanding what and how different chemicals control boiler chemistry.
Learn APO maintenance and PM routes
Knowledge of all flash / wash spray flush locations and how to properly flush line.
Assist on trouble shooting and maintaining all equipment; care for all company issued tools, maintaining clean and safe environment, including boiler room cleanup
All other duties as assigned
Qualifications :
Must possess a current State of Maine High Pressure Boiler license
Follow safety procedures at all time
Training for Confined space supervision
Strong written and verbal communication skills
High level of technical competency
Physical Requirements :
Visual acuity (Corrected) to read directions, prints and to inspect machined parts, product to ensure parts meet specifications.
Manual dexterity sufficient to operate machinery for precisions work
Physical ability to do work requiring frequent stopping, standing squatting, bending, crawling, twisting, and lifting up to 50 pounds
