This job description is a general guide of the duties of the 2nd Pressman working on the Flexo Printer Cutter. The functions are not all inclusive, and the employee may perform other functions in order to get the job done.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
- Assists in assuring accurate speed of the Flexo Printer Cutter.
- Assists in making necessary cutting adjustments by removing the die assembly.
- Secures correct ink for the press and keeps ink pumps full during the shift.
- Maintains correct viscosity of inks.
- During the shift the plates have to be washed several times.
- Insures that all guards and safety shields are in place.
- Insures area around the press is clean at all times by mopping.
- May place rolls of paper onto the press.
- Assist in moving pallets and baskets, wraps pallets at shrink wrapper, and moves pallets from Flexo area into warehouse area.
- Works closely with 1st Pressman in all operations of the equipment to insure safety, quality of product produced, make adjustments, and configure the press.
- Help give breaks to the crew on the press.
- May have to put rolls of paper on the press.
- Make splices from roll to roll. When the Helper is on break.
- Records roll information on roll sheets.
- Some of these functions will overlap with the 1st Pressman.
- Certified to operate an electric pallet jack.
- At the end of each run, the ink pans have to be removed and washed.
- Change gears on press during make-ready.
- Assist on keeping wash up sink area clean and organized.
- Assist other 2nd on rebuilding spare dr. blades.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB:
- Pull die (weighing 150 lbs) out of press. This takes 2 people.
- Climb onto press, reach far end of plate cylinders.
- Pour ink from 5 gallon bucket weighing 40 lbs.
- Push rolls of paper on the press, weighing between 2500 and 4500 pounds.
