Summary of Primary Purpose
Will be responsible for accurately packing and inspecting all products. Ensure that Production area meets Huhtamaki housekeeping requirements. This responsibility is to be exercised within the scope of all company policies, procedures and guidelines. Packer will be part of a Packer Pool labor group.
Description of Major Responsibilities
Perform all tasks in a safe manner; adheres to all safety policies and procedures. Packs quality product into cartons or onto pallets. Load un-printed parts into parts handing system. Operates palletizing equipment to pack product onto shipping pallets. Rotates into all normal packer job assignments as needed throughout production departments Inspects product on regular basis for quality. Assists in operating and cleaning all automated parts handling equipment. Prepares and signs labels with daily and correct information. Adhere to all packaging specifications. Work with and through others to accomplish required tasks. Communicate concerns and ideas effectively to supervisor and others. Perform housekeeping duties on a regular basis. Performs other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
Will work in a manufacturing environment. Individual will work a set schedule including regular weekend work. Requires prolonged standing (95%). Will pack and inspect products on various molding, printing, and thermoforming machines. May operate palletizing equipment on 8’ elevated platform. Requires twisting at waist, bending/stooping, squatting/kneeling, climbing ladders and stairs and working on platforms at various heights up to 8’. Incumbent will lift up to 25 pounds on a regular basis and up to 40 pounds occasionally. Requires reaching above, at and below shoulders.
Qualifications
The ability to see, read, distinguish letters and/or symbols. Requires near and far acuity vision. Must be able to lift 25 pounds on a regular basis. Must be able to learn and retain the part numbers and distinctions among various products. Must have legible handwriting. Requires the ability to communicate effectively with others. Work overtime as required to meet customer’s needs.
Basic educational level background normally acquired through the completion of high school level programs leading to a diploma or equivalent preferred.
