Essential Functions
- Monitor department safety efforts. Provide direction for safety improvements and ergonomic concerns.
- Conduct routine safety audits, hazard hunts and if necessary, accident investigations.
- Lead pillar team and Kaizen projects. Drive the AM and PCS process to improve the department.
- Responsible for meeting department production KPI’s and monitor improvement projects.
- Manage internal customer/supplier relationships with printing, planning, inventory control and material supply, engineering, and maintenance.
- May be required to manage projects related to department improvements.
- Help to establish staffing levels for the department.
- Monitor internal quality data and provide directions for corrective action.
- As necessary provide corrective action responses for customer complaints.
- Responsible for the training and development of department personnel.
- Implement continuous Improvement through relentless focus on corrective and more importantly, preventive actions and building this philosophy throughout the organization above.
- Other responsibilities and tasks as appropriate to achieve Company initiatives, at the direction of the Operations Manager.
Job Qualifications
Required
- Strong teambuilding skills.
- Have strong computer skills. Excel, Power BI, ERP system.
- Discrete manufacturing experience.
- Proven track record of success managing a multi-process or departmental production group.
- Able to enter product data and information via the computer systems.
- Have strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to talk in front of large groups of employees, managers, and supervisors.
- Ability to multitask and oversee multiple projects, production schedules and company meetings as they relate to the Plate Dept.
Preferred
- paper or paper board food packaging preferred.
- 5-7 years of Supervisory/Managerial experience in a manufacturing setting.
- 4-year degree preferably in business management or engineering (ME, EE, ChE).
Environment
- Ability to walk, stand and climb stairs many times and for long durations during a normal workday. Work on the production floor with wide swings in ambient temperatures.
- Have good eye/hand coordination and not have color blindness.
- Ability to safely work within all manufacturing departments.
- Work in an office environment part of your workday while walking the production floor daily.
