SUMMARY:
To support the machine shop and assembly by ensuring all machine parts within shop and from vendors, meet drawing specifications. Maintain quality reports by recording all necessary data. Communicate inspection results to machinist for adjustments. Communicate daily activity with Quality Manager and Shop Manager. Purchase all tooling or necessary items needed to support shop.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Inspect machined parts to engineering drawings. Purchase cutting tools and other various items. Inspect using CNC CMM, micrometers, calipers, electronic height gage. Inspect using gage blocks, gage pins, thread gages, gage plugs. Do visual inspecting of parts for flaws, defects. Complete required reports. Create CMM programs on Zeiss CMM using Calypso software. Name and save programs and reports on computer. Understand GD&T and how to apply to programs. Perform first articles as priority and in-process parts. Record all purchases on spreadsheet. Inspect all outside machined parts and record data. Research tooling or items needed to support shop.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Understand basic math, CMM programming preferably Zeiss with Calypso software, use of various inspection tools and methods.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or GED required.
Minimum of 3-5 years experience in manufacturing as an inspector, machinist. Good understanding of machining or parts. Experience in blueprint reading and GD&T. Understanding of various plating and heat treating of machined parts.
