To provide the leadership and expertise needed in the Huhtamaki Continuous Improvement Process, within the organization. Working with the local senior management, these Black Belts will conduct improvement projects within the business groups, plants, business units, or corporate functions.
Essential Functions
- Supports Continuous Improvement, aka World Class Operations, by acting as a “change agent”.
- Assisting in identifying continuous improvement opportunities through loss analysis tools and communication from shop floor as well as department management.
- Defining the scope and financial justification of projects. Reporting project status and results. This includes documenting all project activities, financial benefits, and approvals.
- Provides input for divisional goals and objectives related to inventory investment levels (Raw, WIP, Finished Goods), and confers with department heads to ensure the coordination of SIOP activities with Sales, Manufacturing, Finance, Engineering, etc.
- Identifying (recruiting) and developing continuous improvement team members. Leading teams to execute projects (2 per year) using the Huhtamaki continuous improvement and WCO methodology.
- Becoming an expert in the use of WCO Tools (Autonomous Management, Process Control Systems & Kaizen) as well as legacy Lean and Six Sigma tools. Ensuring that the tools are used appropriately by team members.
- Supporting “Green Belts’ and line management in their continuous improvement activities (i.e., training, presentations, etc.).
- Identifying and assisting in the removal of barriers to projects.
- Ensuring 2-way open communication throughout the organization for the Continuous Improvement Process Improvement. This includes keeping the Continuous Improvement Director, Group Management, and Project owners informed of project status thus ensuring alignment of activities between other Black Belts.
- Identifies opportunities to improve the SIOP process and MRP systems, and drives solutions, and performs on-going assessments to identify opportunities for improvement, and provides feedback to the appropriate department heads.
- Serves as the primary liaison to the IT Department and recommends MRP system improvements.
- Communicates regularly with all levels of the facility to add value to the process and provide feedback on performance.
Job Qualifications
Required
- Demonstrated knowledge of successful project management.
- Experience in the use of statistical tools/methodologies, computers, quality methods, and basic financial principles.
- Experience in recruiting/leading and developing a team.
- Ability to communicate at all levels in an organization.
- Mobile to undertake the highest value projects within the organization.
- Working knowledge of Mini tab.
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, a minimum of 6 - 10 years of industrial experience, including 2 years in a position of leadership.
- Advanced degree – MBA.
