Job Summary
Supervises and coordinates activities of production workers to safely achieve the maximum efficiency of labor, material, and equipment while manufacturing high-quality products with minimum scrap and downtime.
Essential Functions

- Performs Safety and Security audits on a routine basis and documents the audits and corrective actions and/or requests.
- Enforces all safety policies, procedures, and work instructions.
- Enforces all GMPs and quality-related policies, procedures, and work instructions.
- Reviews production schedules, estimates manning requirements and assigns personnel to tasks/duties.
- Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
- Oversees the orientation and training of employees supervised.
- Aids employees in understanding specifications, blueprints, and job orders.
- Assists employees in troubleshooting production problems and coordinates support from other departments to resolve problems rapidly.
- Daily monitors cycle times, regrind usage, and scrap generation and, acts to achieve optimum conditions through direction to employees.
- Reviews Operator reports, product specifications, data sheets, setup information, line clearance, and other forms/report and, processes and/or stores as required.
- Maintains and updates records, as needed, concerning production equipment and personnel.
- Generates reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis in regard to production, safety, quality, and employees.
- Submits recommendations for improvements to equipment, manpower, quality, safety, documentation, and communication methods, by initiating work requests and/or other means.
- Interprets company policies to employees.
- Performs regular performance reviews on employees supervised.
- Administers disciplinary action fairly and consistently as warranted by policy.
- Adheres to and complies to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s).

- Associate degree in a business or manufacturing field or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school preferred; Five years related experience working in manufacturing required.
- Knowledge of continuous improvement programs like: World Class Manufacturing, Toyota Lean, Six Sigma, TPM, etc.
- Ability to give/receive feedback, both positive and constructive, on performance related issues
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety, rule, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Ability to communicate effectively with subordinates and upper-level management.
- Ability to speak effectively before customers and employees of the organization.
- Ability to complete reports and communications in a timely and efficient manner.
- Must possess good inter-personal skills.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent to draw and interpret graphs and efficiency reports. Able to filter data into a pareto format for prioritizing.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems in varying and/or in standardized situations.
- Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Physical Requirements: prolonged standing/walking 85% with occasional sitting (15%). Lift 20 pounds on an occasional basis with no assistance and heavier weights with assistance. Rarely pull/push 1000 lbs with a manual pallet jack. Occasionally bend, kneel, stoop, squat, and crouch. Regularly reach above, at, below, and to the side, while twisting body and twisting at waist. Climb stairs and ladders on an occasional basis. Rarely, work on platforms at various heights. Grip small pieces/parts. Twist hands at wrist while gripping and/or carrying items
- Employee must have vision abilities required by this job which include close vision, peripheral vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision, ability to adjust focus.
- Employee must have sufficient hearing to be aware of sirens and horns which alert people to danger.
- While in production areas, the employee must wear PPE, follow GMP's, be trained in knife safety.
- Proficient using computers and programs such as Microsoft (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Web based programs, etc.
- Incumbent works in an office/manufacturing environment and will use the following equipment: computer, calculator, telephone, fax machine, and copy machine.
- While performing the duties of this job the employee will work in an office environment as well as a manufacturing environment with above normal heat conditions, flashing lights, noise levels exceeding 90 decibels, sirens and horns, powered moving equipment passing nearby, light dust in the air, moving mechanical parts, hazardous chemicals.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts.
- Individual will work an average of 40 hours per week with occasional weekend work.
- Employee must be able to work various hours and various shifts.
