Job Summary
The Quality Manager plans, coordinates, and directs the site quality assurance program designed to ensure continuous production of products consistent with established standards by performing the following duties personally and through subordinates.
Essential Functions
- Monitors the safety environment of the workplace and acts to eliminated unsafe conditions, practices, equipment, and personnel.
- Enforces GMPs and all company policies and procedures.
- Creates, implements, coordinates, and directs AIB and GMP programs and procedures.
- Creates, reviews, and maintains the HACCP documents.
- Oversees and monitors Pest Control program and contractor(s).
- Administers and maintains centralized document control for all departments with annual review of AIB, GMP, HACCP, ICP, Pest Control, and Food Safety programs.
- Manages/supervises Quality Assurance personnel and conducts performance reviews on those individuals.
- Collects data and analyzes via statistical methods.
- Generates product specifications utilizing input from T&D and statistical data gathered from samples of production generated product.
- Estimates quality and reliability expectancy of finished product.
- Creates and implements inspection methods, procedures, and work instructions.
- Provides audits and inspections of product during production runs via Quality personnel with feedback to Production personnel as needed.
- Direct workers engaged in inspection, testing, and auditing activities to provide documented on-going control over facility, materials, product, and personnel practices.
- Formulates quality control guidelines and limits within corporate expectations, policies, and goals.
- Interprets quality control philosophy to personnel within the organization
- Applies total quality management tools and approaches to analytical and reporting process within each department
- Participate in quality management teams within the organization.
- Design and implement quality control training programs for key personnel.
- Investigate and address customer complaints regarding quality.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field required
- 5-7 years experience in the quality field
- Prior supervisory experience is highly preferred
- Knowledge of SQF regulations a plus
- Knowledge of gauge R&R, ISO, HACCP, and SPC.
- Knowledge of World Class Operations pillar structure of continuous improvements a plus.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents and procedures.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, auditors and the general public.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and management.
- Must possess good inter-personal skills. Must be a team player.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.
- Ability to identify and define problems involving several concrete variables in a standardized situation.
- Ability to research information, collect and analyze data, draw valid conclusions, and make recommendations and plans of action.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
- Physical Requirements: prolonged sitting (50%) with frequent standing/walking (50%). Rarely lift 30 pounds with no assistance and heavier weights with assistance. Rarely pull/push 1000 lbs with a manual pallet jack. Occasionally bend, kneel, stoop, squat, and crouch. Regularly reach above, at, below, and to the side, while twisting body and twisting at waist. Climb stairs and ladders on an occasional basis. Rarely, work on platforms at various heights. Grip small pieces/parts. Twist hands at wrist while gripping and/or carrying item.
- Employee must have vision abilities required by this job which include close vision, peripheral vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision, ability to adjust focus.
- Employee must have sufficient hearing to be aware of sirens and horns which alert people to danger.
- While in production areas, the employee must wear PPE, follow GMP's, be trained in knife safety.
- Employee will travel to vendors, customers and other Huhtamaki locations via air and ground transportation.
- Incumbent works in an office/manufacturing environment and will use the following equipment: computer, calculator, telephone, fax machine, and copy machine.
- While performing the duties of this job the employee will work in an office environment as well as a manufacturing environment with above normal heat conditions, flashing lights, noise levels exceeding 90 decibels, sirens and horns, powered moving equipment passing nearby, light dust in the air, moving mechanical parts, hazardous chemicals.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts.
- Employee must be able to work various hours and various shifts which may include workdays over eight hours and/or weekends.
