Summary:
Pono Aina Management is seeking a Human Resources Support Specialist to join our team at Fort Shafter in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design and administers human resources policies and procedures that generally covers two or more functional areas.
- Implements Human Resources policies as a generalist, partnering with business operations to ensure a complete understanding of business needs and objectives and resolves HR issues.
- Responsible for and/or serves as a HR liaison for most of the following areas: succession planning, talent management, labor relations, employment, employee relations, compensation, benefits, EEO, and/or training and development.
- Collects and analyzes HR data, and then makes recommendations to management. Processes paperwork for functional area(s) according to established procedures.
- Prepares internal employee communications regarding such matter as compensation, benefits, or company policies.
- Administers various human resources plans and programs, such as new hire orientation, training and development, and the performance management process.
- Improves manager and employee performance by identifying and clarifying problems; evaluating potential solutions; coaching and counseling managers and employees.
- Handles employee relations investigations and counseling. Implements employee retention initiatives.
- Conducts exit interviews to collect data. Drafts policies and procedures in accordance with government regulations, company culture, and best practices. Preparation of compliance reporting.
- Perform activities in the human resource area. Includes employment specialists who screen, recruit, interview, and place workers.
- Applicants must be able to obtain pertinent security clearance.
- Travel may be required inside of the U.S. (CONUS) as well as internationally (OCONUS).
Required Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience with Human Resources in a large, complex DoD environment
- Experience with engaging and consulting with senior leaders to provide people-focused solutions
- Experience with policy analysis, procedures, training, compensation, benefits, performance or talent management, recruiting, or resource management
- Experience with using Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Knowledge of DoD HR administration and management principles, information systems, and practices
- Ability to be flexible, exercise initiative, innovate, and take poorly defined problems and convert them into questions for which practical solutions can be defined
- Ability to travel internationally a minimum of once every six months
- Secret clearance
- Bachelor's degree

Physical Requirements:
- Work is performed in an office or home office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Requires the ability to walk short distances.
- Exerting up to 15 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to life, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
