Job Summary
The Car Tester Driver is responsible for test-driving vehicles to evaluate their performance, safety, comfort, and handling characteristics. This role plays a crucial part in quality control, helping manufacturers and dealerships ensure that vehicles meet specific standards before reaching customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Vehicle Testing:
- Drive cars under various road conditions to assess handling, braking, acceleration, and comfort.
- Evaluate and report on vehicle performance aspects, including noise levels, engine performance, suspension quality, and overall feel.
- Conduct tests on a closed course or public roads, as needed, in compliance with safety regulations.
- Data Collection and Reporting:
- Accurately document test findings, including any detected issues or irregularities.
- Provide feedback on vehicle features, such as entertainment systems, GPS, air conditioning, and safety features.
- Collaborate with engineering or quality assurance teams to report findings and suggest improvements.
- Vehicle Inspection:
- Conduct a pre-test inspection to ensure the vehicle is safe and meets basic standards for testing.
- Identify mechanical issues and report them to the service or technical team.
- Compliance and Safety:
- Follow all relevant traffic and safety laws while conducting tests on public roads.
- Use protective gear and follow all safety protocols during testing.
- Ensure confidentiality with any sensitive or proprietary information about vehicles.
Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Proven experience as a test driver, delivery driver, or in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of vehicle mechanics and a genuine interest in cars.
- Ability to identify and report vehicle performance issues accurately.
- Attention to detail and excellent observational skills.
- Physical stamina to conduct long test drives and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit and drive for extended periods.
