Tennis Court Maintenance Staff

ARC is the largest tennis and pickleball facility in WNC. The priority of this position is to take care of clay (har tru and hydro) and hard tennis courts during the week and weekends, as well as our indoor and outdoor pickleball courts at ARC South.   Our goal is to have the courts and their surroundings not only look the best, but also that the playing conditions of the courts are of superior quality. 

The job duties include grooming of the clay court space, as well as the land surrounding the courts. There are very specific things that have to be done to take care of both tennis and pickleball courts so this person will need to follow specific instructions on how to do his/her job.

This position requires someone that will take pride in their work and take ownership of the courts they are taking care of.

$14 - $18/hour, based on experience.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Assist in the process of court opening and court closing each Spring and Fall, which includes putting up and taking down lines, nets, water coolers, cooler stands, scorecards, court numbers, benches, and windscreens
• Groom the courts twice daily (morning and following afternoon watering) which includes a combination of rolling and brushing, and cleaning the lines. Grooming of the courts will need to be done twice daily on weekends as well.
• Operate an irrigation/court watering system; learn the system and be able to operate the system without assistance from anyone else
• Fill water coolers with fresh water and ice daily on all courts
• Pick up trash within the fences of the courts, as well as the grassy areas around the outside of all courts
• Replenish the cups for the water coolers daily
• Address weeds and algae that grows on the tennis courts
• Use minor maintenance equipment for various jobs; such as pressure washer, spreader, and leaf blower
• Communicate with front desk staff daily about court issues and court closures
• Leaf blow on hard courts, including pickleball courts daily
• Address windscreens that become unattached.
• Address issues or problems on the courts on a daily basis
• Help keep outdoor furniture around the courts in an orderly fashion
• Clean the indoor courts one time each week
• Change out trash and water coolers on indoor courts daily
• Keep furniture on all tennis courts (indoors and outdoors) in an orderly fashion

Qualifications and Skills

• This person must be able to work weekday afternoons.
• This person must be able to work Sundays. 
• This person must be reliable; we do not have subs for this position
• Will require some clay tennis court knowledge; about the material, the layers, what the colors mean
• Must demonstrate the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Must demonstrate the ability to work with a team and analyze effective work flow and process
• Must demonstrate the ability to solve problems
• Will require organizational skills and willingness to be extremely picky about court conditions
• Someone that is fluent in Spanish is highly recommended

Salary : $14 - $18
