COMPANY : Humacyte Inc (Nasdaq : HUMA) is developing a disruptive biotechnology platform to deliver universally implantable bioengineered human tissues, advanced tissue constructs, and organ systems designed to improve the lives of patients and transform the practice of medicine. The Company develops and manufactures acellular tissues to treat a wide range of diseases, injuries, and chronic conditions. Humacyte’s initial opportunity, a portfolio of Acellular Tissue Engineered Vessel (ATEVs), is currently approved for use in vascular trauma repair and is in late-stage clinical trials targeting multiple other applications including AV access for hemodialysis and peripheral arterial disease. Preclinical development is also underway in coronary artery bypass grafts, pediatric heart surgery, treatment of type 1 diabetes, and multiple novel cell and tissue applications. Humacyte’s 6mm ATEV for AV access in hemodialysis was the first product candidate to receive the FDA’s Regenerative Medicine Advanced Therapy (RMAT) designation and has also received FDA Fast Track designation. JOB SUMMARY :
This Intern will contribute to and collaborate on multiple critical Process Development projects and batch objectives. The intern can expect to get exposure to, train on, and perform 2D and 3D batch-operations work including 2D adherent cell passaging and expansion, and 3D tissue culture launch, non-attached cell removal, feed, and decellularization processes. Further, the Intern can expect to gain process understanding of multiple experimental platforms at various scales in the process development lab. Batch work assigned may impact clinical platform development, commercial manufacturing characterization, scale-down model development, new product development, or other critical Process Development goals. Contribution to scientific and engineering project work is available if process development batch objectives are met.
This internship will require 20-40 hours a week, with flexibility to meet the demands of the role. A desired start date of June 2025 and end date of August 2025 is preferred, though exact dates are flexible. At a minimum, two months are required to complete this internship.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
With the guidance and instruction of other senior process development associates and managers :
- Collaboration and contribution to PD experimental design and execution
- 2D cell culture expansion and passaging
- 3D seeding, bioreactor install, and launch processing
- Decellularization setup and takedown
- Other development project work
Independently after thorough training from senior process development associates and managers :
