COMPANY : Humacyte Inc (Nasdaq : HUMA) is developing a disruptive biotechnology platform to deliver universally implantable bioengineered human tissues, advanced tissue constructs, and organ systems designed to improve the lives of patients and transform the practice of medicine. The Company develops and manufactures acellular tissues to treat a wide range of diseases, injuries, and chronic conditions. Humacyte’s initial opportunity, a portfolio of ATEVs (acellular tissue engineered vessel), is currently in late-stage clinical trials targeting multiple vascular applications, including vascular trauma repair, AV access for hemodialysis, and peripheral arterial disease. Preclinical development is also underway in coronary artery bypass grafts, pediatric heart surgery, treatment of type 1 diabetes, and multiple novel cell and tissue applications. Humacyte’s 6mm ATEV for AV access in hemodialysis was the first product candidate to receive the FDA’s Regenerative Medicine Advanced Therapy (RMAT) designation and has also received FDA Fast Track designation. JOB SUMMARY :
Humacyte is seeking an Executive Director, Supply Chain, to join our rapidly growing organization. This is a pivotal role in an early-stage commercial company, with the unique opportunity to directly contribute to the success of the commercial program and influence the culture of the department. This role is accountable for ensuring the uninterrupted flow of materials and services to support the manufacturing and distribution of Humacyte products. This Leader will drive continuous improvement and performance management activities in commercial and clinical planning, logistics, and strategic sourcing. In collaboration with relevant team members, this position is responsible for identifying, selecting, negotiating agreements with, and managing various vendors including, but not limited to, those providing raw materials, packaging, labeling, and shipment services. In addition, this role will leverage innovative methods to ensure continuity of supply while considering trends and market pressures to help mitigate risks and volatility. The Executive Director will leverage integrated business planning to collaborate internally and externally with senior leadership, functional area leaders, and supplier partners to enhance profitability, support growth, improve productivity, and drive efficiencies across the organization.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Accountable for all aspects of the supply chain function from raw material sourcing to customer delivery. This includes Demand and Supply Planning, Procurement, Order Management, Warehouse Operations, & Transportation.
- Possess an expert level technical understanding of our critical and specialized raw materials to ensure consistent and high-quality procurement, storage, and delivery.
- Establish and manage performance metrics to measure business critical outputs such as : Overall Service, Cost Savings, Cost Avoidance, Supplier performance, and Working Capital Productivity.
- Develop standard and repeatable supply chain outcomes consistent with organizational expectations by establishing policies, guidelines, work instructions, and best practices.
- Create long-range strategies and objectives for the supply chain that align with overall company growth. Model and confirm capacity and resources are available in advance of business need.
- Interpret and analyze current and past trends in key performance indicators, including areas of COGS, inventory, operating expenses, and Capex. Identify areas of opportunities and risks and to provide recommendations.
- Ensure adherence to established internal policies and procedures as well as external regulatory requirements and financial controls. Develops finished goods and raw materials forecast in monthly / yearly buckets for the horizon needed to achieve company objectives.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve challenges through engagement, idea generation, influencing and negotiation for optimal overall organizational effectiveness.
- Engage with Executive leadership to proactively identify potential risks to the organization; make creative recommendations for mitigating risks.
- Leverage processes and tools to objectively review suppliers before purchase and for continued due diligence and supplier compliance after purchase.
- Perform industry benchmarking with respect to pricing, performance, service levels and other measurable standards.
- Lead negotiations with complex suppliers, contractors, and partners. Accountable for RFP process.
- Oversee the relevant contracting process working closely with the financial and compliance departments.
- Partner with Finance to understand budgets and financial forecast processes to ensure expenses come in on budget.
- Work in conjunction with senior management to seek optimal balance between total product costs / terms, lead time, order minimums, standard packs and other factors while maintaining adequate merchandise quality, quantity, and specification requirements.
- Educate Humacyte personnel on supplier, contractor and partner management practices that influence the culture on processes and techniques to maximize vendor performance and develop roles and responsibilities guidance to drive better pricing and performance.
- Enforces policy and procedure to remain compliant with all requirements governing the pharmaceutical industry; works closely with the quality to ensure adherence to policies.
- Ensures policies, practices, and internal controls are adhered to in all Supply Chain functions.
- Build and maintain strong, mutually beneficial relationships with key suppliers and business partners.
- Provide all aspects of personnel management for reporting teams including developing strategic staffing plans that align with company and departmental objectives; recruitment of appropriate team members; performance management; development of team members; engagement and retention.
