Accounting Specialist

SUMMARY: The accounting specialist plays an integral role in supporting the finance department through maintaining the accounts receivable and/or accounts payable sub-ledger and grant reporting. They will apply principles of accounting to perform a wide variety of accounting duties.
DUTIES:
- Receiving, verifying, and recording of all incoming invoices
- Review invoices for proper documentation/authorization
- Assigning account numbers, department codes, location codes, and grant codes to transactions
- Tracking reoccurring bills
- Assist with preparing monthly contracts and grant invoices
- Recording all incoming checks, remittances, and receipts
- Record daily deposits
- Recording monthly journal entries
- Preparing reports using Microsoft Excel
- Performing financial analysis and reporting as needed
- Provides support for external audits by providing requested information timely
- Ability to provide support to fellow team members
- Performing other accounting duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate degree in accounting plus two years’ relevant accounting experience.
