Survivor Support Advocate

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Bachelor’s degree in human services, social work, public health, or related field, required.

2. Understanding of the dynamics of family violence including, domestic violence, and sexual assault, preferred.

3. Experience in case management, information and referral, direct service and/or advocacy preferred.

4. Experience in crisis intervention preferred.

5. Minimum of one year work or internship experience, preferred.

6. Ability to relate to people from varied ethnic and economic groups.

7. Must successfully pass agency-required background checks.

WAGE RANGE

$23.00/hour plus agency fringe benefits

Fringe benefits include, but are not limited to, health insurance, life insurance, paid time off, and 11 paid holidays per year.

WORK SCHEDULE

40 hours per week Monday – Friday; occasional weekends, flexibility is required.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Provide crisis intervention, including emergency response in person and/or via the Assault Crisis Center’s Crisis hotline/helpline to survivors requesting assistance.

2. Provide one-on-one advocacy supportive services and individual/group supports to victims of domestic violence, and/or sexual assault.

3. Accompany survivors through the criminal justice system and/or civil court processes.

4. Participate in community awareness activities, including providing service presentations.

5. Maintain accurate customer files and ensure appropriate completion of all agency forms and reports.
