What are the responsibilities and job description for the Work Based Learning Specialist position at Human Learning Systems?
The WBL/CTST Specialist provides support for a U.S Department of Labor Job Corps contractor. The Job Corps program is a federally-funded residential training program. The mission of Job Corps is to provide career-ready technical and basic skills (academic) training and job placement assistance to program eligible youth ages 16-24.
Summary of Duties:
The WBL/CTST Specialist is responsible for coordinating and managing the centers Work-Based Learning/Career Technical Skills Training programs ensuring students are actively participating in on- and off-center work-based learning opportunities.
Description of Duties:
- Promotes work-based learning initiatives and functions.
- Promotes the WBL Program on center as well as in the local community by working with local employers and the community.
- Maintains linkages with local and state agencies, federal programs, private industry, and educational training institutions.
- Develops and updates Memorandum of Understandings (MOUs) for all WBL sites both on and off campus.
- Establish supportive/mentoring relationships with students throughout their enrollment and provides employability and career counseling
- Monitors students at their WBL/CTST sites to validate requirements are met.
- Establishes savings requirements for trainees who participate in paid sites.
- Documents all WBL hours utilizing forms/timesheets submitted by site supervisors on campus and off.
- Provides WBL/CTST classes and workshops
- Provide students with an employability assessment evaluation.
- Maintains WBL student records to include, job description, application, evaluation, and required safety review.
- Monitors WBL/CTST student’s progress and performance participation.
- Schedules student transportation to and from WBL sites as required.
- Meets with students a minimum of once every 30 days.
- Acts as a liaison between center and work-site.
Education/Experience:
- Associate's degree or Secondary Education and 2 years experience
- Must possess computer proficiency and excellent communication skills
- Valid North Dakota Drivers License
