GENERAL FUNCTION
Under the direction and supervision of the Program Director, the Specialty Program Instructor I will be primarily responsible for providing quality leadership and supervision, in classes, while maintaining a safe, non-competitive environment for YMCA members.
KNOW HOW
A high school diploma, or its equivalent, and 3-4 years experience leading classes and working with adapted programs/special populations is required. College degree preferred.
A minimum of 18 years of age.
Knowledge of program being instructed and basic biomechanics and class leadership experience required.
Ability to successfully demonstrate motions and skills related to instruction and to verbally provide clear, concise directions.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding personal information on children, family and YMCA staff.
Maintain current certifications in CPR AED, First Aid, Safety & Risk Management, Child Abuse Prevention, New Employee Orientation, YMCA Principles of Health & Fitness and Group Exercise Instructor or the ability to obtain within 60-90 days of employment.
Administrative skills including the ability to maintain required program and department documentation and records.
