Job Status : This position is full-time. HRDC also has a "Wellness Hours Policy" which encourages full-time staff to use up to 4 paid hours weekly to work on their wellness.

Job Location : Bozeman, MT

General Summary of Purpose of this Position :

Responsible for planning and implementing the services to help alleviate childhood hunger. Organizes and coordinates the day-to-day staff and volunteers, and food service delivery; collaborating with staff, partners, specialists, and other organizations to increase participation in specified childhood nutrition feeding programs. Works with the Department Director, GVFB Programs Manager and Fork & Spoon Programs Manager to develop communication and outreach strategies for childhood nutrition programs. Works alongside the Fork & Spoon, helping with kitchen production as needed.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities :

1. Summer Lunch Responsibilities : April through August (30%)

  • Complete annual OPI application, training, and reporting for all summer lunch production including the reimbursement request
  • Research menus, food items, and potential changes, to improve overall nutritional content and value
  • Recruit, train, and supervise all summer lunch staff members / interns / AmeriCorps VISTAs / and volunteers.
  • Coordinate ordering and receiving of all food and production items in conjunction with the Fork & Spoon kitchen manager
  • Accurately project and supervise the production of all summer lunch items
  • Coordinate volunteer and staff involvement in the production of all summer lunch materials
  • Work with Fork and Spoon manager and staff to coordinate production and kitchen use
  • Appropriately advertise and promote summer lunch sites, and meal opportunities to relevant organizations
  • Coordinate meal requests and pick-ups with all participating camps
  • Works with the Department Director and GVFB Operations Manager to research & source materials and reduce costs
  • Track and maintain inventory

2. KidsPack Responsibilities : September through May (30%)

  • Works with the Department Director and GVFB Operations Manager to research & source materials and reduce costs
  • Procure necessary food products.
  • Track and maintain inventory
  • Coordinate weekly reporting with all participating schools for pantry and kidspack ordering.
  • Schedule volunteers to pack and deliver routes weekly
  • Coordinate with the Bozeman Schools Foundation to organize the Pack the Sack Fundraiser
  • Continually analyzes community / school needs and helps prepare outreach strategies
  • Work to increase participation and maintain relationships with partner sites
  • Develops partnerships and other alliances throughout the local community, state, and nation within the public, private, nonprofit and government sectors to advance the Childhood Nutrition Program goals and objectives.
  • Write annual grants for KidsPack funding
  • 3. Food Drive / Can The Griz (5%)

  • Coordinate material needs for the delivery and subsequent pick up of all relevant food drive materials.
  • Track weights of all schools
  • Utilize donated food items into KidsPacks when available
  • Assist FoodBank in donation pick up and drop off
  • 4. Public Relations & Outreach (10%)

  • Responsible for initial inquiries and explaining programs to volunteers, community partners, and schools
  • Oversees preparation and content for public relations materials (brochures, annual reports, newsletters, appeals)
  • Makes presentations to community groups as appropriate and serves in an educational capacity to raise awareness regarding programs to alleviate childhood hunger
  • Continually analyzes community / school needs and helps prepare outreach strategies
  • Work to increase participation and maintain relationships with partner sites
  • Develops partnerships and other alliances throughout the local community, state, and nation within the public, private, nonprofit and government sectors to advance the Childhood nutrition program goals and objectives.
  • 5. Volunteer Coordination (10%)

  • Recruits, trains, and supervises volunteers to assist with program operations as necessary
  • Keeps accurate records of volunteers and staff, including an updated contact list of school program contacts, community volunteers, and partners
  • Serves as liaison between school programs and community volunteers
  • Evaluate the need for and develop training for school programs, as necessary or requested
  • Develops ongoing training of volunteers in the community and potential partners that educates them about the overall program
  • Utilized agency volunteer software to recruit and manage volunteers
  • 6. Budget (5%)

  • Monitors budget for childhood nutrition programs
  • Implements the program's strategies and fundraising activities.
  • Collects and analyses data required for grants and public presentations
  • Writes grants and seeks additional sources of funding
  • Provides required reporting to the Department Director
  • Submits the billing statements on behalf of programs per state and other fees for service contracts
  • Seek out and pursue funding opportunities
  • 7. Food & Nutrition Programming Assistance (10%)

  • Assists in the development of new programs as deemed necessary and beneficial by Department director and supervisor
  • Creates and implements nutrition education opportunities
  • Assists in kitchen production for the Fork & Spoon and Summer Lunch Program
  • Increase participation through special project development, working with GVFB staff when appropriate, to collaborate and build upon programs
  • Assist in GVFB operations when necessary; including receiving stocking, intake, and volunteer assistance.

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Services, business / finance, non-profit administration, or related field from four-year college or university preferred.

  • Three years of progressively responsible work in program administration including budgeting, grant writing, and fund-raising preferred
  • Non-profit experience preferred
  • Experience in cooking, nutrition, and food safety preferred
  • Experience building collaborative community efforts preferred
  • Knowledge of health, nutrition, and mental health preferred

  • Develops programmatic budgets- Summer Lunch, SFSP, KidsPack
  • Monitors expenditures and revenue
  • Generates program revenue
  • Solicits grants / gifts / donations
  • This position is authorized to sign the following documents and forms :

  • Prepares purchase orders for approval, ensuring proper coding of payment requests according to current funding available and associated contract eligibility requirements.
  • Monitors expenditures and revenue for programs, including federal grant funds.
  • Section VI - Personal Contacts : The incumbent is responsible for the following personal contacts (either in oral or written form) when

    performing the duties and responsibilities of the position :

  • Interacts daily with the public or consumers
  • Interacts with program managers, executives, HRDC boards, advisory boards and / or committees several times a year
  • Interacts with representatives of other service providers several times a year
  • Interacts with funding agencies and governmental compliance or auditors to provide information or bexchange facts several times a year
  • Represents programs to members of the press or media
  • Confidentiality :

  • The incumbent regularly works with confidential and client data, which if disclosed, may be detrimental to agency / client interests. Release of such information may also violate disclosure laws.
