Organizational Context: Introduces the ‘how and who’ to the Lely Center. The ‘what and when’ is led by the Regional Development Manager within the region. Spends 90% of time in multi-disciplinary regional team that includes Technical Support Service, Farm Management Service, Milk Quality, and Marketing.
Summary:
The Area Sales Manager (ASM) primary role is prospecting customers and qualifying them for the sales process, with or without the Lely Center and secure sales with the Lely Centers in the specified region. The secondary role is to assist the Lely Center in coaching sales staff and supporting marketing efforts. The ASM will work within the Regional Team taking the What/When direction from the Regional Development Manager to evaluate and elevate the overall performance of the Lely Center Partners. The ASM will introduce the How/Who to Lely Center on how to execute professional sales processes within the Lely Center in the region by supporting development and carrying out lead-generating marketing plans, introducing and supporting customer relationship management (CRM) tools, and delivering sales and product training opportunities. This position requires travel approximately 60% of the year domestically and/or internationally via car or plane.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
‘Who and how’ Competency emphasis:
Execute effective lead-generating activities to “fill the funnel” with prospective clients with or without cooperation from the local Lely Center dealership.
Deliver budgeted volumes in the area of responsibility. Contribute to the development of Lely North America's annual whole good sales budget.
Be well versed in the full line of Lely products to suggest and promote to customers and to identify and offer solutions per customer need.
Lead by the ‘what and when’ from the Region:
Strategically targeting Lely Center Dealership sales activities, coaching the sales process and either directly or indirectly managing the CRM depending on LC engagement, to effectively track sales process and directly manage the funnel.
Provide coaching and direction to the Lely Center Distribution Partner Sales Team on advisory selling, product knowledge, skillful, and operative sales processes.
Support the execution of a LC marketing plan with lead generating activities to “fill the funnel” with prospective clients in cooperation with the local Lely Center dealership.
Collaborate with the Lely Center, Dealer Channel Distribution, Marketing, and Service Support teams by communicating, suggesting, and sharing information to effectively resolve client issues and/or complaints.
Develop a solid and trusting relationship by communicating, providing assistance, and sharing information between Lely Center Dealerships and Lely North America.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, Business Management, or related field. Minimum of 3 years of business management experience focusing on sales and/or marketing, and/or a combination of relevant education and experience, required. Knowledgeable in the dairy industry. A strong dairy network would be viewed as an asset.
