JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Recovery Support Specialist (RSS) / Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) to join our Drop-In Center team. This role is designed for individuals with lived experience in recovery who are passionate about helping others on their path to wellness. The RSS/CRSS will support individuals with mental health and/or substance use challenges by providing peer support, assisting in goal setting, and offering resources that promote self-sufficiency and recovery.
JOB DUTIES
- Assist clients in setting personal recovery goals through individual and group sessions.
- Collaborate with clients and treatment teams to create recovery plans.
- Support the development and participation in self-help groups.
- Use tools like the Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) to promote client wellness.
- Lead discussions to address shared life challenges and coping strategies.
- Share personal recovery experiences to inspire hope and build connections.
- Conduct sessions focused on overcoming negative self-talk and developing resilience.
- Help clients prepare for employment, including resume building and interview skills.
- Support clients in developing essential social and vocational skills.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Must identify as being in recovery from mental health or substance use challenges.
- CRSS certification required within 18 months of employment.
- Experience with psychiatric disorders, psychosocial rehabilitation, or developmental disorders preferred.
SMART GOALS
- Facilitate a minimum of three peer support sessions weekly to address coping strategies and self-esteem building.
- Maintain a client retention rate of at least 85% through consistent check-ins and encouragement.
- Provide at least two job readiness supports monthly (e.g., resume support, mock interviews).

WORKING & PHYSICAL CONDITIONS

Occupational Risk for Exposure to TB:
There is an occupational risk for exposure to TB, as this position involves extensive community and patient contact. Employees in this role are required to comply with annual TB testing as part of workplace health and safety protocols. The only acceptable exceptions to this requirement are documented medical contraindications or religious objections. Employees who decline TB testing will be required to wear a mask when deemed necessary.
