Engineering General Maintenance 2C
Primary Responsibilities: Does maintenance, repair and installation of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, refrigeration, architectural and structural systems and equipment throughout the resort. May operate projection and sound equipment for special events. Keep equipment and maintenance records. May operate and do all maintenance and repair work on boilers and associated equipment. May mix, add and analyze boiler chemicals. Train, advise and direct personnel in lower rate positions as assigned.
Essential Duties:
Perform maintenance, repair, inspection and calibration of electrical, mechanical, structural and architectural equipment and systems.
Provide electrical, mechanical and carpentry support for function set-ups for clients and guests.
Operate boiler, chiller, and associate auxiliary equipment.
Respond to trouble calls and able to troubleshoot to determine the problem, order parts and do repairs.
Do maintenance and repair on assigned work orders.
Perform electrical, mechanical or construction related maintenance and upkeep of hotel building and related fixtures and functions.
Working knowledge of OSHA and HIOSH, safety, building codes and laws pertaining to his particular trade.
Direct and train lower graded personnel
Communicate with vendor(s) and manufacturer to troubleshoot and order needed products and parts for scope of work within his assigned jurisdiction.
Assist in special projects.
Complete work assignments in a timely manner.
Follow safety procedures and standards.
Care and clean tools and equipment.
Perform other related duties as assigned or required.
Other Duties:
Assist other maintenance personnel as required.
Keep shop and work area clean and orderly.
Working Conditions:
Work in various areas throughout the hotel; guest rooms, offices, public areas, kitchen, storerooms, etc. anywhere in need of repair and maintenance.
May work in small cramped areas, with no air conditioning or limited ventilation.
May work in refrigerated area or equipment.
May work in high or elevated areas.
Work Hours:
Ability to work shift and days designated by the Director of Engineering/Assistant/Supervisor/Operations Assistant
Must be able to work in excess of 40 hours per week, when needed.
Equipment Use:
Ability to use the telephone and radio.
Ability to use various office equipment including but not limited to calculators, photocopiers and facsimile machines.
Ability to use repair and maintenance tools and equipment, i.e., refrigerant recovery machine, vacuum pump, torch, tubing cutter, wrenches, screwdrivers, tubing bender, electrical tester, drill, leveler, hammer, flashlight, snake, utility knife, wire strippers, manifold refrigerant gages, socket set, knee pads and gloves.

Mental and Physical Demands:
Ability to prioritize and organize workload
Able to manage stressful and challenging situations.
Able to stand and walk during most of shift.
Able to bend, squat, stoop, lay down, reach, climb ladders to perform repair, maintenance and installation work.
Lift/carry and push/pull up to and over 50 lbs.
Able lead and direct lower rated personnel
Communication Demands:
Must have the ability to communicate verbally and in writing to employees, managers, vendors and guests/clients.
Ability to communicate over the phone and radio.
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
2 year college or 3 years related work experience
Must be able to read and understand technical manuals, work orders, written instructions, etc.
Ability to multi-task.
Driver’s License when operating a vehicle
